Reviews and Press
“Written with unflinching honesty.”
“In some remarkable reporting and imaginative writing, Jan Cherubin has created a novel that is funny and sad and fast-paced. Readers will appreciate a terrific story and a pro’s telling of it.” –Michael Olesker, Baltimore Jewish Living
The author and her father at the Brooklyn Bridge Centennial.
“An alternately dark and luminous, wounded and affectionate portrait of a family in crisis.”
“Cherubin’s bittersweet tale is an epic and indelible character study of Clyde from frightened cub to kvetching lion in winter, with overtones of King Lear and an occasional queasily incestuous vibe. She writes in evocative prose that mixes astringent reality with glowing reverie.” —Kirkus Reviews
Q: What are you working on now?
A: I’m working on a nonfiction book about tracking down my disappeared grandfather, making use of material I discovered while researching the novel. It’s a real detective story.
